The original idea came from the first time we saw the BMW Motorrad Prototype R20. We saw huge potential in the R18 engine. For many reasons, BMW seems to have lost interest in this generation or concept. It looks like the factory is trying to make use of the engines and frames produced for the R18 - just our personal opinion.
We believe in this platform, and we're committed to supporting Motorrad. So when one of our long-time - and honestly, best - customers asked us to build him a Café Racer, we immediately thought: now is the time to reveal the true potential of the BMW R18.
The idea is simple: take an R18, strip everything away except the main frame and drivetrain. We’ll bore out the engine as much as possible, pair it with a single-sided swingarm, and completely redesign the look into a high-performance, modern Café Racer.
